2026 DE LIJN/WALLIN’

Galglaan, Gent
50 x 50 cm

As a forgotten woman in fashion history, Honorine Deschryver was made visible again in the city where she was once born.

Honorine Deschryver was the first major Belgian female fashion designer. She became well known during the Roaring Twenties, bringing together art and fashion through her work with Couture Norine.

Honorine de Schryver was, together with her husband Paul-Gustave Van Hecke, co-founder of the avant-garde Brussels fashion house Couture Norine.

Many women from that time are overlooked. This project was the perfect opportunity to bring one of them back into the public area and collective memory.

Spray paints, underpainting, and dry brush techniques were combined to create a dynamic, playful, and well-defined result.
