Kumari
Kumari, or Living Goddess of Nepal, is a young girl between 3 and 7 years old believed to be the incarnation of the goddess Taleju.
She is chosen for possessing thirty-two physical and spiritual perfections and is worshipped until she bleeds for the first time, marking the end of her divine role.
Inspired by images of the former oldest Kumari in Nepal, I designed this compound box, encircled by symbols referencing the thirty-two perfections.
These symbols serve to investigate the concept while simultaneously evoking a sense of containment, reflecting the dual nature of being a Kumari as both a privilege and a burden.
