2025 FOELIE
Belegstraat 80,
2000 Antwerpen
Brightening up the corner of Belegstraat with vibrant window paintings that instantly make passersby and Foelie’s customers happy.
Foelie is a coffee and lunch establishment with a distinctive and authentic atmosphere that departs from the monochrome beige aesthetic common to contemporary coffee bars.
Foelie is named after mace, the lacy outer covering of the nutmeg seed.
Inspired by botanical illustrations of the nutmeg seed and it’s mace, I developed ornamental drawings around it.
It was important to maintain the passage of natural light; therefore, I incorporated several cut-outs and kept the ornamental elements smaller at eye level and within direct lines of sight.
Digital Design
I mapped the design with a doodle grid from the inside, did a white underpainting, let it dry and then painted it with colors in several layers.
